Earning The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award USA
Whenever possible, we connect young people to a local Award Unit to begin their Award. When no local program is available, we help to identify locations that may be interested in becoming new Award Units and delivering the Award. We suggest that you consider sharing this opportunity with others at your school, after-school program or other organization who may be able to help start an Award Unit in your area. Award programs can be located in schools, faith-based organizations, youth clubs, Scouting Councils and non-profit organizations. Interested individuals can be trained to run an Award group at their organization.
Virtual Award Program
To further expand our geographic service area, we are piloting a program called the Virtual Award Program (VAP). Participants in the VAP work with trained and vetted Award Leaders remotely to complete the Skills, Service, Physical Recreation and Residential Project Sections. VAP Participants complete their Adventurous Journey with other VAP Participants through an open registration trip with one of our licensed Registered Activity Providers. The VAP does not currently have space for new participants, but we plan to open up this opportunity to additional participants in the near future.
