Award USA Partners with USA Fencing to Empower Young Fencers
May 15, 2025
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award USA is thrilled to announce a dynamic new partnership with USA Fencing, the national governing body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of fencing in the United States. This collaboration aims to provide young fencers with a comprehensive framework for personal development, complementing their athletic pursuits with essential life skills.
Through this partnership, USA Fencing members aged 14 to 24 will have the opportunity to participate in the globally recognized Duke of Edinburgh’s Award program. The Award encourages youth to engage in activities that foster resilience, self-confidence, leadership, and community involvement. Participants can achieve Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels, each representing a significant milestone in their personal growth journey.
Suzanne Currie, CEO of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award USA, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration:
“Partnering with USA Fencing is incredibly exciting for us. Both of our organizations share a commitment to youth empowerment, discipline, and achievement. Together, we can offer young people a powerful platform to stand out and succeed both on and off the fencing strip.”
The integration of the Award program into USA Fencing’s youth initiatives allows young athletes to combine their fencing activities with community service, physical fitness goals, and personal skill development. This holistic approach not only enhances their athletic performance but also prepares them for future academic and professional endeavors.
USA Fencing will actively promote the Award at major national tournaments, through monthly communications, and targeted outreach to high school-aged members and their families. Participants will have unique opportunities, including special events and experiences linked to fencing competitions.
